If you have been researching Golf in New Zealand’s North Island you will probably have seen well known international courses like Gulf Harbour, Kauri Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers, Wairakei and Kinloch. What you probably haven’t seen is that virtually every small town in New Zealand has a golf course and most of them are good quality courses. They range from cheap and cheerful to magnificent. All of them are very affordable. New Zealand has an unbelievable number of golf courses in relation to the population.
NZ golf prices by word standards are exceptional value. A round of golf can cost as little as $10 and often you deposit your green fee in an honesty box because the pro shop is unattended and you are one of only a handful of people playing. The well known international courses can be more expensive but still very good value compared to prices in other countries. You will need a booking for the international courses. Aside from weekends, you can usually just show up and tee off immediately at country courses.
Our self drive itineraries include options to play the well known courses but we also direct you to the little gems that most overseas visitors never find out about.
